Travel and Accommodation

Please note: BOOK YOUR ACCOMMODATION AT THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE OPPORTUNITY AS THERE IS HIGH DEMAND ON ROOMS IN VERONA DURING THE OPERA FESTIVAL.

Getting to Verona

Visitors from outside the European Union (EU) should check locally whether a visa is required for travel to Italy. Italy is part of the Schengen agreement. A Schengen visa, issued by Italy, also allows travel to the other Schengen countries during the same trip. An invitation letter is required to accompany your visa application. Send your request for an invitation to smi@mip2024.com with the words "Visa letter" in the subject field. Your email must include the ID number assigned to your accepted abstract and your email and postal address. EU citizens may travel within the region with an identity card. Other nationalities should ensure that they have a valid passport with at least six months until the expiry date remaining from the date of their visit.

By air: Verona Villafranca Airport (VRN) is the nearest airport, mainly serving destinations in Europe. For visitors coming from further afield, Milan Malpensa (MXP) is the nearest major international air hub. There are also international services to and from Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE). For those travelling on budget airlines within Europe, the following options are available: Verona (VRN), Milan Bergamo (BGY), Milan Malpensa (MXP), Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) and Bologna Guglielmo Marconi (BLQ) airport.

By train: Verona Porta Nuova (Stazione Verona Porta Nuova) is the main railway station in Verona with high-speed rail connections to Milan (1 hour), Venice (1 hour) and other major destinations in Italy and neighbouring countries (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).

By bus: Bus transfers from regional airports are operated by Flixbus.

By car: Verona can be reached by motorway A4 (directions: East; West) and A22 (directions: North; South).
